Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, also known as Ashanti, was born on 13 October of 1980, at Glen Cove New York United States. She is a songwriter, singer and actor who hails from in the United States. Ashanti gained fame as when she was a teen. The year 2002 was when she was signed to Murder Inc. Records. In the same year, she made an appearance as a guest on Fat Joe's What's Luv? song and Ja Rule's Always On Time track. Both of them were huge hits. The first female artist to have the highest two positions in the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at the top spot and Luv? at number two. Luv? She became the first female artist to have both the highest two positions on the The Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States, with Foolish at number one, and then What's Love? Let's celebrate this momentous occasion together. Ashanti Shequoiya has been referred to as Ashanti when she was born the 13th of October, 1980 located in Glen Cove New York. Tina Douglas her mother is an instructor in dance and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas her father is a former vocalist. Kenashia Schia is Douglas's younger sister, is older. Douglas was named Ashanti Douglas in Ghana after the Ashanti Empire. The women had immense power in the Ashanti Empire and Douglas was hoping that Ashantis would follow in the footsteps of those. Although she was offered by various record labels like Bad Boy or Jive, Ashanti had trouble finding success as an artist. Her debut single Foolish features a sample taken from the track of DeBarge titled Stay with Me. Her debut self-titled album was released through Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. on the label in 2002. The Declaration is her fourth studio-album, came out in June 2008. Hey Baby (After The Club) hit radios and digital platforms on the 16th of October.
