Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that portion of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a vast area that extends from Lachine up to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to originate from the West Island. However, this isn't the case. Brugel grew up in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. She aspired to be professional, however due to a rapid development spurt, she exceeded the size of her dancing friends. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inch tall. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. Some former dancers switch to acting. In Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school that pushed her to take the next step. She was encouraged to audition for a part in the school's production. She tried out to play the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years her career has seen her appearing in a variety of movies and TV productions. The most well-known role was that of Rita (shown below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast for the season 1 of the series, and she was only seen on occasion.
